Project One: Private Residence, St. John’s, NL
This stunning downtown property was in need of an upgrade to have the landscape match the beauty of the house. A large tree in the front became the island of a circular driveway that created a grand front entrance. The back yard was transformed into an intricate English style garden with a herb and vegetable garden and multiple seating areas.
Project Two: Private Residence, Conception Bay South, NL
This project was fully designed and constructed by Murray’s. The goal of this project was to create a new outdoor area for relaxing and entertaining. The result was a modern patio and deck system surrounded by low maintenance perennial planting, with subtle lighting for extended use into the evenings.
Project Three: Private Residence, Foxtrap, NL
This project was fully designed and constructed by Murray’s. Beginning as a home and garage renovation, the landscape soon began to be developed as well. The entire front and back yards now include stairs and retaining walls, hardscape walkways, patios, multi-level decks, and an intricate planting plan.
Project Four: Transatlantic Park, Heart’s Content, NL
Heart’s Content is home to the Heart’s Content Cable Station, which is where the Transatlantic Cable made landfall in 1866, completing the first telegraph connection between Europe and North America. For the 150th anniversary in 2016, Provincial Historic Sites wanted to update the existing outdoor space to commemorate the monumental event. The new Transatlantic Park saw the relocation of two existing monuments, and the inclusion of new seating, gathering area, and planting. A feature of the new park is a custom metal banding that carries one of the first messages sent across the cable in 1866, in both written word and Morse code. Murray’s was involved with this project from conceptual design right through to construction.
Project Five: Port Blandford Municipal Park, Port Blandford, NL
Port Blandford is a popular destination for seasonal residents and tourists alike near Terra Nova National Park. This project involved creating a master plan for the park that could meet the different recreation requirements for all user groups. The final design included an ampitheatre, upgraded parking and circulation, sports areas, and trail systems.
Project Six: St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Burin, NL
This project involved the design of a historic cemetery in the heart of picturesque Old Burin. All existing grave sites were preserved, and a new area was created to allow for columbaria, an altar, seating, and statuary.
