Why prune your trees?

For Safety - removing branches that could fall and cause injury or property damage, trimming branches that interfere with line of sight on streets or driveways or removing branches that grow into utility lines.

For Aesthetics - pruning can enhance the natural form and character of trees or stimulate flower production. Pruning for form is especially important on open trees that do very little self pruning.

For Tree Health - involves removing diseased or insect infested wood, thinning the crown to increase airflow reduces some pest problems, removing crossing or rubbing branches. Pruning encourages strong structure that reduces weather damage. Removing broken or damaged limbs encourage wound closure.

For Shade Control - thinning of the tree canopy can greatly increase the amount of light getting to the under story to improve turf development or the range of plants that can be accommodated.
